How to Make the Best Wings For Your Super Bowl Party

You ever been to one of those Super Bowl parties where the host just dials in a takeout order for a couple buckets of wings from the local sports bar? Yeah, it’s sort of like thinking that you’re going to a Rolling Stones concert and seeing Satisfaction, a Stones cover band instead. It’s all the same genre, sure, but you can’t help but suffer the disappointment.

Here’s a suggestion: Don’t be the guy that orders that sub-standard bucket-o-wings this year. Make this @GuyGourmet recipe instead. If you have a pan, some butter and hot sauce, and a half-hour to kill before guests arrive, you’re pretty much there.

What You’ll Need:

1 ½ lb chicken wings
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1 Tbsp hot sauce, plus more to taste

How to Make It:

1. Heat the oven to 500°F. In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with the oil, ½ tsp salt, and ½ Tbsp pepper until well coated.

2. In a large cast-iron pan, add the wings, leaving some space around each one. Slide the pan into the oven and roast them for 10 minutes. Flip them and roast till cooked through, 10 minutes more. Now turn the broiler on high and broil the wings until their skin is crispy, another 5 minutes or so.

3. In a large bowl, mix the butter and hot sauce. Wearing an oven mitt, carefully remove the pan from the oven and toss the wings in the bowl with this butter-hot sauce combo. Then transfer them to a plate and serve with celery sticks.
