Gaglione Brothers Famous Steaks & Subs — San Diego
When it comes to cheesesteaks in California, it doesn’t get much better than Gaglione Brother’s Famous Steaks & Subs. Joe, Andy, and Tony Gaglione opened in 2004 after testing different recipes in the kitchen of the eldest Gaglione brother, Joe’s Pacific Beach apartment. Many of the hoagies here are named after family members and include “The Turk,” served with homemade turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and mayonnaise; and “The General,” named after the brothers’ Italian Grandmother, with thinly sliced hot pastrami, melted Swiss cheese, homemade Russian dressing, and fresh coleslaw. But of course, the cheesesteak is the real beacon at this shop and will transport you out of the sunny town right back to Philly.
