Long Story Short
A new dating app matches singles looking for someone who hates precisely the same things.
We’ve all been at a bar or a party and had that ‘Wow’ moment where we like the same things as someone else. ‘Wow, you cosplay? So do I!’ Etc. Etc.
But, it often falls flat.
Why? Hard to say. It’s not because someone isn’t looking for someone who likes the same things, it just comes off as try-hard and it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll hit it off automatically.
But, have you tried going the other way and connecting on things you hate? Pickles, socks and sandals, choker necklaces, whatever. If you try to connect based on things you hate rather than what you like, it might just work.
At least, that’s the philosophy of a forthcoming dating app called Hater.
Hater enters the extremely saturated dating app market by offering something unique — matches based on what you hate rather than like.
Hater’s algorithm links you with people that hate things like cilantro, Donald Trump, fedoras, vaping, saying ‘I love you,’ cargo shorts and the list goes on.
The app launches on February 8 on iOS, but is it too late to be entering the dating app realm? Yeah, probably. It’s possible that people are sick of apps like Tinder and Bumble, so they’d want a change. But man, it’s hella competitive out there. Good luck Hater, you’ll need it.

What about people that hate dating apps?
Drop This Fact
Tinder is far and away the most popular dating app with 50 million active users, but we wouldn’t say it’s the best.
